This year HCLM will be participating in the Hunter Schools Mountain Bike Competitions and we are excited to offer after school mountain bike coaching to Primary school students!
Please Note: One Ticket will need to be purchased for each student who will be attending.
The coach will be Sarah from "Momentum is your Friend", who is a qualified coach certified by both the MTBA and the PMBI (the leading global professional mountain bike skills instructors).
Sessions will be held:
- After school 3:30-4:30pm
- Thursdays, starting 8th February
There will be no coaching session on Thursday 21st March as that day is the primary MTB competition at Glenrock MTB park.
Dates: Feb 8, 15, 22, 29, March 7th, 14th, 28th, April 4th, 11th
There will be 9 sessions this term for Primary students at a cost of $90 for the term (there will be no refund for missed lessons).
Students will be required to bring each week:
- Bike in good working order (bike must be suitable for cross country riding and fitted with mountain bike tyres. Touring or semi-slick tyres are not suitable.)
- Helmet (compulsory of course)
- Afternoon tea & Water
- MTB Gloves (recommended but not compulsory)
- Change of Clothes suitable for riding a bike (does not need to be school sports uniform as you will need to wear it to school the next day).
Skills learned will include the following to start, and will progress to more advanced skills as required by the group.
- Correct body positions
- Braking and Gear selection
- Basic Cornering
- Balance and control
- Handling small obstacles
The primary sessions for term 1 will start at school and the tracks around the school. Parents will be notified if the sessions are moved to Awaba MTB park later in the term as the students progress.
